Hi Team,
I have just successfully installed the latest build of the community edition of LD. I have imported several microsoft excel and word documents and notwithstanding the fact that it looks like NONE of them are being indexed, the simplest task of assigning a name to the 'Author' field and then searching for the author's name is consistently giving zero results.
I am using CENTOS and mysql as the database backend. I am a database specialist and I can confirm from phpmyadmin that the logicaldoc tables and schema all seem OK, and the document metadata are being stored correctly in the ld_document table.
I have even forced reindexing, I have waited about 4 hours just to ensure that all tasks are running and ran through, but neither a simple word search within the excel sheets and word documents are found, much less a very trivial 'author' search.
The language i used is "English" and I have ensured that all my imported documents are tagged this way.
I have looked at the log files but can't see anything that stands out. Where do I look to find out where the search is failing?
Thanks and regards

Re: Simple search by author is not working
If have to assure the document is indexed(a white cylinder icon apprears at the left of the title).
Once the document is indexed, try to use this expression "your_author" (don0t forget the encloding ")

Re: Simple search by author is not working
Hi the " symbol didn't seem to work.
If I setup the author name to be John Doe, Searching John didn't seem to work, neither did Doe of John Doe or "John Doe". What worked was *John* or *Doe* or *John Doe*. It seems to want the wildcard character there.
Thanks and regards.

Correction....the expression "John Doe" DID work after all. But I had to exit the browser and log back in to make it work. Not sure why it didn't work the first time.

Re: Simple search by author is not working
I add two lines that might be useful to better understand the functioning.
First of all, the document must be indexed. (once it is indexed to the left you can see a small gray icon in the form of silo ) .
When you change any attribute of a document it is marked as "to index" and lose the icon.
So until it is re-indexed metadata changes will not be reflected on the search index and then you can not search on attributes just modified.
You will have to wait until the document is re-indexed.
