Java JDK new license

Problems with installing LogicalDOC? No problems, the solution is closer than you think.

Java JDK new license

Wed Apr 24, 2019 6:12 pm

Hi,
I have an installation of Logicaldoc CE on an Ubuntu server machine.
I am planning to use it for saving, keeping and tracking several documents for a little office.
Starting April 16, 2019, Oracle has changed its license agreement for Java Se (former Oracle JDK for Java 8 and later) and so the ppa I used to update Java on my Ubuntu server installation of Logicaldoc CE does not work anymore.
Oracle site says that OpenJDK is the open source alternative to Java SE, but I read that OpenJDK does not fit Logicaldoc.
So my question is how can I keep my installation updated? Can I use OpenJDK instead of Java SE (which requires registration)?
Thank you in advance and regards
Dino

Hi Dino,
OpenJDK works well and you can use it safely.

Of course, if yours is a critical application and you want to be sure you are always up to date and have a reference point / support for Java issues, consider signing up for the Oracle 11 Java license program (this is a monthly subscription )
